What is a good shopping website with cheap prices on recording and pro audio equipment?
My budget is below $1,000. All I'm looking for is an 8 input preamp with USB connection, any type of pro tools v8, and condenser mics. I know i can't get such good mics for too cheap, but I'm just getting started.

Survey: Has the over-merchandising of cheap audio equipment had an effect on people's taste in modern music?
There are plenty of ramifications and discussions that can develop from this question. I guess more in the lines of the congruency of the way music is being produced, and the cheaply, more profitable, consumer electronics being merchandised today. I could also add the obvious fact that contemporary music has been declining for some time now, but as always, there are still artists making great music, and recordings, as well as artists doing the opposite.Still when I want to hear something that sounds like a real sound recording I often turn to " The Night Fly" by Donal Fagen. It was the first digital recording ever nominated for a Grammy in the early 80's. Although the recording was made on the first prototype of Pro Tools, the recording was as pure as it could be due to the fact that that version of Pro Tools was not advanced enough to do the kind of over producing and doctoring modern recordings get now. Also, the artists and producers were well aware of the kind of Hi Fi component systems available to the public in that time. Some of those old stand alone tube amplifiers sound better next to any new digitized little gizmo you can get for $500 anywhere today.Poll Analogue, or Digital?

Beginning field audio equipment that will make my money back?
I just graduated from film school and finding a job is way more difficult than I was expecting. So I figured since I want to do audio I should just buy some equipment to do field work that pays a little bit $100 $200 . I'm nervous about spending the money because I know people are picky about brands and models when hiring audio.Anyone with experience know what equipment I should get if my budget is about $2000. I want to do field audio recording for films or commercials...etc. I've been looking at the Fostex FR2 LE $500 . Then a Rode NTG 3 $699 for my mic. I figure the mic is good enough to last me a while and is good enough quality for me to get some decent gigs. Only problem is that it eats up a lot of my budget so I'm not sure if I'd be better off with a cheaper mic and more gear. Help please

Hi I've just bought two lovely vintage Grundig speakers which have one DIN 41529 loudspeaker connector two pin each < en.wikipedia.org wiki DIN connector Loudspeaker connector > . How can I connect these speakers to modern audio equipment that has red R and black L connections? Or, failing that, is there any cheap audio equipment, eg. an ipod dock, that I could buy that I could connect adapt these speaker connections to?Thanks very much

Help identify old piece of audio equipment?
I saw this old piece of audio equipment as a prop at a store. It was like a turntable but instead of having a round thing on the surface that rotates, there were these four glass bulbs with lights. On one of the sides there was dial. That's all I remember.yes, absoloutley, that's it first poster. Thanks.
