Can I use my 5watt ham radio to contact ISS?
Is it possible that my neighbors ham radio is screwing up my cable?
For the last few weeks, my Comcast digital cable & internet has had off & on interference. Initially the pattern seemed to coincide with roadwork near my house, between 8 5 so I thought if was from the workmen's radio frequencies since Comcast came out & checked & couldn't find anything...the pattern has changed where this can happen anytime now including nights when the road workers are gone. We also noticed that someone has put up a large ham radio tower in our neighborhood around the same time, so I'm starting to think this might be the reason. Is this possible?

there is a ham radio operator in my neighborhood. several of my neighbors and I have cable tv and have a similar " rolling wave" type of interference but we all have tvs that are different makes and different ages. four streets away the cable reception is fine. could this interference be caused by the ham radio?

Ham Radio, QRP go kit question? About antennas and the buddipole.?
OK I'm new to ham radio and yes even though everybody says don't start with qrp because it's hard I got myself an IC 703. qrp interests me what can I say. Anyways I got the radio and now I'm trying to figure out what type of antenna to get. I want this to be like a field kit. Right now I'm looking into antennas. So what antenna should I look for. I like the buddipole since it's a dipole I hear that's what you want to use for HF. Oh and also if you got any suggestions for a field kit let me know. Thanks.
Why does my Directv receiver reboot when my Dad keys up his Amateur Ham Radio microphone?
Odd question, but maybe there are some tech people out there. We have four directv receivers in the house. My dad has the main DVR, I have my unit networked to his DVR so I can watch and record from his unit. When he keys up the mic on his ham radio, it causes my unit to reboot. The other two receivers are not networked and are not able to tap into the DVR recorderings and they don't reboot when he keys the mic. His unit doesn't reboot either, only mine. Any suggestions? My dad is an electrical engineer and he figures it's an interference issue, but not sure where to start.
Ham Radio: How much are they worth?
My step dad acquired a good load of ham radios & accessories from his dad, and I don't know where his dad got them. My step dad has passed away, and my mom's trying to find out what they are worth and sell them. Is there a website or anything that could tell me how much they're worth?
