Touch lamps won't work in my house?
I keep having a problem with touch sensitive lamps in my house. I had one and one day it started flickering constantly and now it doesn't turn off unless I unplug it. I bought a new one yesterday and today it started flickering, turning off and on, dimming itself. It won't turn on or off with my touch and now it hardly turns on at all, just flickers and stays very dim. What could be causing this?

Why would all of the lamps in my house break?
Nothing else electric is broken and all of the main lights are fine. But we can buy a lamp, have it work fine for a couple of days, and then there will be a flash and a pop, like the bulb has blown, except the whole lamp will have stopped working even if we change the bulb, outlet, etc . This has happened to 4 lamps in the last 6 months the last 2 within this week. Why would this happen only to the lamps? We're not using bulbs with a wattage that's too high...Why would poor electricity only affect lamps though? And no, this was 4 separate outlets.
How did powder flash lamps work on cameras?
Who invented it and how did it work.I read that when the wire was tripped an electrical charge ignited the powder but how did that cause the camera to take the picture?
Can I substitute T8 black light lamps for T12 black light lamps in the Exposure unit?
I am trying to build an Exposure unit to start a silk screening business. All the plans and information for the units call for T12's. The only problem is that with the phase out of the T12 called for by the US department of Energy I can not find the light fixtures to use in the unit. Can I substitute T8 for the T12

Can anyone explain what this touch lamp is doing?
I have a touch lamp and a nearby fan in my room. Frequently when I turn the fan on and off or in between speeds the lamp blinks, just a dim blink. The touch sensitive lamp works by sensing its capacitance. Capacitance is the ability an object has to hold electrons. When a human touches the lamp the sensor of sorts senses the difference. The body adds to the lamps capacity, making the capacitance different than before, so whenever someone touches the lamp it turns on and off. My theory is that the switch in the fan briefly emits a small amount of electrons into the air most times it is switched on and off. Kind of like the blue flash of light I see sometimes when I turn on or off a regular wall light switch. Anyways, maybe that small amount of electrons that jumps in between in the switch of the fan somehow briefly changes the capacitance of the lamp and makes it flash. I have no clue if this theory is even close to what is happening, but anyways can someone explain to me why the light flashes? Any ideas would be great
Hippie having lava lamp problems?
OK I have 3 lava lamps my 2 oldest ones have the same problem. Once they've been on for about 3 4 hrs. the lava just sits at the bottom in a big blob. I've changed the blub several times & made sure it's the correct wattage volts. Needless to say this didn't fix the problem, it's not near a vent so the lamp is hot enough, can it become to hot???? Or can the lava wax get to old to work correctly????Anybody out there know of something else I can try??
