Anyone know anything about projectors?
I'm looking to invest in a projector to play movies in my backyard in warm summer nights. I want a screen that can be rolled up and down from when it's not being used. But i dont know a lot about projectors. I was wondering if someone could educate me on them, like what the best kind would be to get or what to look for in one. Or if anyone knows of any specific ones that are good, reliable, and inexpensive. I don't want to spend $1500 on a projector so anything below 1,000 please.

Projector Questions!!!?
Hi i wanted to know a few things about a projectors.1. Can you connect your projector to a cable box without using a TV? And if so what items would i need to buy and if you know any projectors that can do so.2. If i have a grey wall could i use it as the " screen" for the projector?3. I watch a lot of movies and my current TV is small for doing so. I also watch TV and would like to get rid of my TV and use a projector for both watching options. Is this worth it or should i just get a bigger TV?

What's the best projector for my needs?
I have some unique needs which don't seem to fit with the goals of projector review sites so I'm finding it hard to choose an appropriate model. Here's what I do know 1. The target screen size is 3m x 2m, projected from the rear like one of those foggy glass screens, but I'm going to use a less expensive option. 2. Because I'm projecting from the rear, some of the brightness is going to be lost, so I'm assuming that lower lumen home theatre projectors are not going to cut it.3. The resolution should be at least WXGA, but I think that going for a 1080p projector might be a better idea since it would allow me to use it for more normal purposes as well.4. I want the distance to the projector to be as short as possible so that the screen can be as close to the back wall as possible. This suggests that I want a " short throw" projector but even that doesn't narrow down the choices much 5. I don't want to spend more than $1000 unless there is some spectacularly good reason to go higher. e.g. if replacement lamps for a more expensive model would be cheaper in the long run.

Which projector would be better for home theater an IBM C400 or a Mitsubishi ES100U?
The C400 has 2650 ASNI,1200 1 contrast ratio. the native resolution is 1024x768 and it is a.7" DLPThe ES100U spec are 2000 ASNI, 2000 1 800x600 and it is a .6" or .7" dlp. Both are older projectors and at first I thought the IBM a clear winner but the Mitsubishi has several different modes for color balance and temp including some specifically for movies. I'll be using standard resolution more than HD, at least for a while. Any opinions are welcome and appreciated.

5800 Lumen DLP Projector vs 6500 LCD projector?
5800 ANSI Lumen DLP vs 6500 ANSI Lumen LCD large venue projector. Both are hd, both are 16x9, both are same make different model. This is for purpose of screening independent films in a dark movie theatre. Best quality is what im going for my patrons.40 foot throw on a 20x30 foot screen. projectorcentral.com parts compare.cfm?pid 1 5939& pid 2 4895& pid 3 5510& remove compare list 5764 is the site i was using for the comparison. I know i need something more powerful to be really effective but i've used 6000 lumen projectors in the past and they worked well for what i had in my budget. These are the two projectors im looking at with a side by side comparison. They will be used to screen independent films off a blu ray player with a sound system in a dark movie theatre that seats 500.projectorcentral.com parts compare.cfm?pid 1 5939& pid 2 4895& remove compare list 5510
