What are Sacramento's fence laws regarding damage done by the contractor hired to fix the fence?
This is kind of an odd situation. The house next door was foreclosed upon, and now the bank is selling it. They hired a real estate company to list it, and also a contractor to do some work on the house. We came home one day to find that part of the fence that separates the two backyards it runs along the property line had been replaced. they never came over to let us know they were doing any work, or asked to come in our backyard. When they were finished, they had left a 2 foot hole in the end of the fence because they had angled the fence onto the other property. They used wood not rated for fences, and took some support boards off our side that made a different section weaker. i called the number for the agent on the sign, and he came out and looked and said he's have the contractor come out and fix it. Well, they did more damage...and refuse to replace the fence they removed...they just want to cover the hole with plywood. the contractor came out 3 times...each time doing more and more damage to the existing fence. I had to send them a Cease and Desist letter to get them to stop coming into our yard and further damaging the fence. icontinuouslyy asked them to call and make an appointment to come over, and they refused. Now, since the house is one the market, their including the agent are basically telling me " Oh well" ..not our problem...because they're washing their hands of the house once it sells. so, since a new fence, a survey, etc. cost more than $7,000 I'm filing suit in civil court. And hiring a lawyer is way too expensive and I doubt one would take it for this small amount , but I can't find any regulations regarding fence laws for the City of Sacramento, or property damage from a contractor I didn't hire.

I spoke with a couple contractors on the phone and 2 of them gave me estimates for over 30 dollars per foot. My husband said he doesn't think that sounds right. okay so i live in Lakewood washington just outside of tacoma.
