Home Maintenance

Reliable home maintenance information

How much should building/home maintenance job cost in Sydney?
I have a job where my backyard fence is kind of bowing over. Apparently it needs to be propped up using rope and have one of the supports concreted in. Also, two half a meter pieces of timber in a small retaining wall need to be replaced. I'm wondering how much this job should cost? I got a quote from a builder for 2k, but it seemed like a bit much. It seems like there can't be more than 2 days work for one man, and maybe charging $400 day plus materials would mean it should be less than 2k. Any ideas? I had some other building work done on my house earlier and it was also seemed quite dear, but was in a rush so I went with it. So I'm just wondering if builders are maybe particularly expensive trades to hire?

What's the best way to start a home maintenance company?
